It seems like only yesterday that a young man named Paul wandered into Royal Cat Records and immediately started talking about old Mark E. Smith and the Fall records, but in reality it was already a few years ago. Before we knew it, Paul was a regular visitor, dropping in with a cheery bit of prog trivia or chatting about the differences between various pressings of Led Zeppelin classics. All of a sudden he was filling in behind the counter during emergencies and then he was working one or two days a week as a regular thing and he was becoming part of the family. Then the pandemic hit and Paul became the main frontline guy at the shop, taking all the risks upon his mighty frame. Now Paul and his lovely family are leaving Guelph for good, heeding the siren call of Hamilton like so many before them. We don't know what we're going to do without the guy, but rest assured, if you need a turntable serviced or a record mastered, he is still available. As well, Paul's band, The Polite Society, should have a vinyl record of their own very soon, which we will of course carry at Royal Cat. But if you want to say your goodbyes, you have to do it today before 5pm when his last shift ends!
In honour of Paul, we have priced a ton of classic vintage vinyl in the shop today. Some of these records are from a serious collection and are in primo condition, so if you see anything you need, there's a good chance you won't find anything as nice anytime soon.
